Every Little Detail Was Discussed

“We have always loved the Spring Creek Ranch area and we also loved the work Chris had been doing around the Collierville area. Once we knew Chris had lots in Spring Creek it was a no brainer.

Once we were finally ready, we wanted to build - not buy already built. We found the corner lot of Chris’s in Spring Creek. He had already submitted the floor plans for the lot. However, we were able to choose everything for the house. Every little detail was discussed and along with Chris’s help, we built our dream house. My job is 24/7 and Chris was flexible to meet with me and listen to every thought I had. I wanted hardwood floors throughout - not a stitch of carpet! We wanted a brick feature wall in the dining room, an eat-in kitchen, and a shiplap accent wall in the master. Outside, we have a beautiful fire pit built from the same brick used on the inside of the house.

Chris was easy to work with! When little things needed to be done he would make a phone call and it was done!”

Chris is Very Responsive

“I'm from out of the area but hubby is from Olive Branch. In 2008, we started going to church here and I trusted the many recommendations from Chris from church friends. I looked at his website but I did not hunt for other builders. I asked people who have lived here for a long time and they knew about his good reputation. We looked at several spec houses and they looked solid. We felt good about the recommendations we’d received.

His style is very Southern and exactly what I wanted. We splurged on high-end cabinets in the kitchen - they’re VERY sturdy and beautiful. I have so much countertop space - it’s a huge U-Shaped kitchen with big island (3 full slabs of marble!) I love that my master bathroom is huge and so is the master walk-in closet. What really sold us on our home layout was the enormous pantry. It’s 12 feet by 7 feet. Absolutely MASSIVE!

Chris listened and helped me get the things I truly wanted in a home to avoid problems. It's 110% about making sure the home doesn’t make you crazy with "pet peeves" once you start living in it. We asked for some special requests to make things work best for our family, for example, I asked for both hot and cold water outside for the dogs. In winter, if there are mud puddles, my dogs will find them! We need to be able to wash our dogs outside with warm water so our hands aren't freezing.

It was easy to work with Chris as he’s very responsive. We got along well and I knew what to expect from him. We had a good, easy working relationship and the budget process was easy. He did a good job laying it all out.”

The Perfect Mix of Modern & Traditional

"We were downsizing our house in Germantown and looked at a Dickens Built open floor plan home in Spring Creek. It had 4 bedrooms and the living room and kitchen were exactly what we wanted. We picked out our own lot and Chris built the home with a few of our own changes requested.

Dickens Built style is the perfect mix of Modern and Traditional. From outside it looks like a traditional 2-story home and inside it’s a modern, open floor plan.

In our experience, we found Chris to be a very good listener and he will tell you whether your idea is good or bad and he's usually 99% right. The quality of work was excellent with very good subcontractors. I've recommended him a lot!"

Front Porch Living

“Chris built the perfect home for us! I like the openness of the kitchen and den. It has a great big butler’s pantry too - so much room! I love my front porch the most! We're retired and stay out there a lot.

I like having 3 bedrooms downstairs and 2 bathrooms downstairs. That was the biggest selling point for us! Upstairs, there is another room that we use as my husband’s man cave. It’s a huge bedroom suite with a large bathroom up there. We love the storage space in the attic. That is one of the best features! The way he designs it - it's like having unlimited storage. Things don’t get in the way. He floored the attic and there’s plenty of room to put everything. Such a GREAT design!

We'd been living in Germantown for 30+ years and we wanted a zero lot line home. Our son and his wife already lived in Collierville, so we told him, "If we could find the perfect house, we would move to Collierville." He suggested Washington Street near the Town Square, so we drove out to take a look at the homes. John Green’s sons spent a couple of hours with us telling us about Collierville. The home was nearly finished when we saw it. We drove around to look at other homes, but I said, “I want that Dickens house!” We bought it in 2 days.

Chris is a great builder and we just love him and his family! We saw his wife with the kids walking to the square the other day. They live here, too. It’s such a nice community!”

He Made it easy

"We moved from California to Collierville. We found Chris Dickens online and called during a visit to the area. We weren't committed to building a new home but we were open to the idea. We became a lot more interested after meeting with him. Chris is very personable. He met with us quickly. We were able to set up a meeting within a few days of calling. We talked to him at one of his homes. After that, we made the decision to take advantage of the equity from our California home to do a complete custom build here.

We had a farmhouse-style home in mind and looked at Chris’ previous builds. We thought he'd be a great fit for us. He’s really knowledgeable. I'd never gone through a new construction loan process and didn’t know how it all worked. For someone new to building a new home, it was nice to have someone who could help us navigate this process. He knew what it looked like and had a network of lenders and good local knowledge.

My wife is very detail-oriented and has a beautiful eye for style and decor. She's got a gift for it. His style at that time was very unique to Collierville. Not many were building a design style we liked. Chris was among the few available with the look that was appealing to us.

Our home is a unique style design - even when compared to Chris's other homes. I've seen a bunch of them. My wife came up with some new ideas and he was flexible and helped us with our vision of what we wanted. We were able to meet with Carson Looney of LRK, a downtown Memphis architect firm. We told him what we wanted and he and Chris created two elevations for us and we picked one of the two that was exactly what we wanted. They captured our ideal for our style.

I’d describe our home as a little modern with a classic farmhouse look. We have some interesting elements in there such as reused brick from a building in Chicago. It's really old brick - so old we wanted to incorporate it in but it was a little brittle and Chris helped us work that out. Using reclaimed material is special.

Some touches we love - the molding is special. My wife wanted bigger molding. The casings around doorways really make the rooms pop. The lighting is really, really good in this house. We have so much natural light that we didn’t even need all the lights I asked for. It’s so bright and open feeling. The master is huge. Most people want a master bedroom downstairs. We wanted it upstairs and it's enormous - it's basically a wing in the house. We have a huge closet - it's almost the size of a small bedroom! We asked for these requests and Chris went with it.

He made it easy! (As easy as it could possibly be.) The turnaround was quick. In April we broke ground and we moved in by Thanksgiving!”
